We set off a half an hour early after getting everything done at home in a timely manner. I even got to watch the last episode of Irish Castles on Netflix so I was prepared for coming here. The drive to the airport was uneventful. We stopped at Arby’s outside of Chicago. I got a ruben and it was yummy. Brandon dropped us off at the terminal and parked in long term parking and we proceeded to check our bags. Brad checked out the pokestops while waiting for Brandon. Brandon and I had gotten TSA Pre and Ciara and Brad got upgraded to it so we all went through security in about two mins. We were so early that our gate wasn’t assigned yet so we hung out at another terminal until it got closer. We boarded and then thunderstorms rolled in were delayed and then back logged, then our crew had exceeded their time limit so they had to be switched, then there were more storms. We ended up pushing back 5 hours late. There was a group of Irish students singing toward the end of the delay and entertaining us. I watched the Jungle Book and How to be Single. When we were airborne they said they were going to come around with food right away with drinks. We were very hungry by that point. They ended up not coming until mid flight. I had watched most of Joy and London has Fallen by then. The two flight attendants seemed new and the other a crabby bag so that wasn’t fun.
We landed fine and made it though the airport to get our rental car. Brandon did great driving once again and we drove to the Wicklow mountains to a few look outs and a park. Some of the driving was narrow’ especially in town for parking. Were then made it to out hotel in Kilkenny. We unloaded and cleaned up for supper. Brad had picked out an Asian restaurant called Yinddes. It was delicious. We then walked by the castle and canal toward downtown. There were so many pubs with live music including one right below our room. We are so tired and going to crash now, despite the music. We had to skip a few things today and in tomorrow’s plans due to the delay, but it was ok. We saw some beautiful landscape and sheep. We will have to do everything from Kilkenny tomorrow instead.
