Happy Monday! We got a bit done today.  We finished up the last paperwork thing this morning which was to apply for Medicare.  This is not for the old only here in Australia, but public health care for all residents. We are officially covered now, but also want to get a supplemental private heath care plan once we have income for things like dental, chiropractic, and vision appointments. Brandon applied for a lot of jobs and called a bunch of places today while I started to look for another short term place to stay after we are out of our airB&B.  This place is booked up right after we are gone so there is no way to extend our stay here.  This little cottage has been lovely.  Everything we need, pretty close to bus stops and supermarkets.  I think the cats will like it too.  There is a site in Australia called Gumtree, it is a less sketch version of Craigslist in the US. It has jobs and housing on it which I have been scouring for us.  There is a lot of cheapish places in good areas but most do not accept pets.  We are going to go see two places later this week.

Quarantine also got back to us today saying the cats are good to be released the 19th which is awesome.  We are making arrangements to go get them as well.  I was going to fly back and get them and fly with them back, but pricing it out, it would have been really expensive and they would not be allowed in the cabin.  I considered taking a bus or train but that is 11 hours each way and Brandon would have has to come anyway since it is one pet per person.  So I think we are going to rent a camper van to drive the 8.5 hours, stay overnight in a campground, get the cats, and drive back.  It seems the cheapest and easiest option.

In addition to all of these plans going on we took a journey to the park nearby that had an excellent rope climbing tower and found a lot of beautiful flowers along the way.  Brandon and I made up a fun game our first night here called bird or child.  There is occasionally shrieking and screeching and usually it is the wild cockatoos, but a few times it was loud kids.  The birds are typically in the trees and unable to be spotted, but I finally got a picture of one.  The Bichon is our host’s dog who comes over to our cottage for pats occasionally.
