This weekend we traveled to Melbourne to get the cats.  The 8.5 hour drive there went well despite a traffic jam.  I even drove a few hours; my first time driving on the left.  🙂  We saw a bunch of sheep and cattle and a few wallabies but no other wild animals despite signs to watch out for koalas, wombats, and roos.  We rented a room at an Air B&B which was really nice and 15 min from the quarantine facility.  In the morning we bought supplies for the cats at a pet store nearby. They even had their prescription food there.  Then went to get them.  There were a few other cars there too and it was so awesome to see pets reunited with their families.  Everyone was so happy!  The facility was very official and we had to go through all these important looking gates.  They brought our cats out and we loaded them into our rental car.  We had folded the seats down to give them a hang out area with a litter box, but when we let them out they came for our laps immediately.  We stopped for lunch and to stretch and re-secured them in their crates anytime we opened doors.  They both ate and drank and Caprica then hunkered down behind the seat for the rest of the journey.  Fiyero took the copilot role and sat next to Brandon on the center console or in his lap. We made it through the state of Victoria with our getting pulled over this time so it was great success.  Brandon drove the whole way back and we were ready to get out and stiff by the time we made it back to our Sydney Air B&B.  We got to drive over the ANZAC and Harbor bridges.  The cats settled in and explored the place thoroughly.  Fiyero looks a little skinnier and Caprica has hair missing around her nose from rubbing on the kennel, but both seem in good spirits and are leaving each other alone.
