Brandon has added more things to our other page about Sydney. See it here: http://www.themillersuncorked.com/a-trip-to-australia/. I have more about our new home below.
This week has gotten cooler and not much new is happening with us. Our jobs continue to go well. Our flatmates are still amazing. Our cats are still silly and adorable. Fiyero thinks he is so clever for being able to balance on the banister. I am scared and waiting for him to fall and hurt himself. Jax has her nanny-ing kids full time for the next week so she won’t be around much. This past weekend wasn’t too exciting. Friday night Brandon and I stayed in and ate TV dinners from Woolworth’s. They were yummy. I bought a book and needles and am teaching myself to knit. Previously, I just did the twirly scarves, but now I am kitting for real; making Brandon a scarf, hat, then slippers. 🙂 So far so good. Saturday I worked and it wasn’t too busy. In the evening, Heidi made a delicious curry in the crock pot. Sunday, Heidi joined us at church and for brunch at a restaurant down the road that recently started a breakfast menu. She then drove us into the city to the Pitt St. mall on a hunt to find boots. Brandon and I wondered around, but didn’t see anything we had to get. Heidi found her boots and we all had chocolate covered bananas to hold us over until her crock pot chicken was done at home for supper. We then played cards. Heidi taught us a game called Last Card and we taught her Shipoo. I have been trying to get a few business-y things taken care of, but it is hard without a day off and when most call in places have very reduced hours compared to the US. We are just hoping to get more insurance and compare rates, so nothing major. I have also been busy getting ready for Mother’s Day and my sister’s Birthday. It takes 10+ days to mail stuff home, so I have to plan ahead! Well enough about us, let’s talk about Sydney!
The blue route on this map is my bus route every day. Since we live on the north side of the harbor, We have to take a bus into the city, then Brandon walks to his work and I walk to my next bus stop through downtown to get to the northwest suburbs. I could also take a ferry and a bus or two ferries and a bus, or two buses and a train. In the interest of paying less and making the best use of time, I typically take a bus, walk and take another bus. I live 11 km (5 miles) from my work. Brandon’s work is about 6 km (2.7 miles) from our house. Below my bus route map is a map of popular tourist places in Sydney. We are lucky and pass across the Harbor Bridge and see the Sydney Opera House everyday. Brandon gets harbor and bridge views at his office in Circular Quay. I go over the ANZAC bridge too and have a bay of the Parramatta River right by my work for awesome views of the city. Hope this clears up where stuff is. I was hoping to write more about our lives and travel here but it is late. There is always next post. Enjoy!
