Hi all and happy May! I hope all mothers had a lovely Mother’s Day yesterday. We have had a pretty low key last two weeks. We went and did some things, but also chilled at home and watched movies. Here is what we have been up to.
Last weekend was awesome and sunny. I worked Saturday and then it got a bit rainy so we stayed in that night. Sunday was gorgeous. Sunny and warm. We took the light rail to Darling Harbour for the Korean Festival. We ate awesome food and saw an amazing Taekwondo demonstration. They were a group from South Korea that do Taekwondo presentations professionally. They launched each other in the air to break boards and had awesome music. Very cool experience to be a part of. My pictures do not do it justice. Later in the afternoon we walked a bit of a ways to Barangaroo Reserve to the Finders Keepers Market. They had crafts and small businesses with items for sale and also a bunch of food trucks. Their was jewelry, clothes, pottery, gadgets, housewares, and more, along with live music. We didn’t find any goodies, but I love going through markets just to browse.
This past weekend was cooler and rainy. I went out in Darlinghurst for oysters with my ladies oyster group Friday night. Their cocktail menu was extreme and they did very fancy things like light them on fire and use liquid nitrogen. Very ritzy! After oysters, a few of us when to a US themed pub for supper. They had hot dogs on special, so, of course, I had to get them. I also tried a salted caramel espresso martini that was amazing!
Saturday was cat socks day and we ran errands. It was dreary and raining, so I did not go on my coastal walk as planned with Women Want Adventure. Our grocery store had Mother’s Day flowers were so pretty. I got two bouquets. We ate lunch at a cafe in Annandale and then watched a movie. We made it through all the Maze Runner movies this weekend. Very interesting and thought provoking movies; a mix between Hunger Games and Divergent. We then met my coworker at a train station to give us a lift to out other coworker’s house for dinner and a games night. 🙂 We taught them how to play Exploding Kittens, ate tacos, and had a nice night.
Sunday, we went to late church and then stayed home and relaxed on the couch. My cold presented Sunday morning, so I started loading up on herbs and fluids. Then the herbs made my stomach upset, but oh well. Hopefully I get less sick because of them. I was suppose to kayak a different part of the Harbour with Women Want Adventure, but they ended up cancelling due to the wind, cold and rain. I was glad of it, with my cold, to be warm and inside. The cats also appreciated all the snuggle time. I was able to talk to my parents this morning. My dad goes in for another procedure tomorrow that will hopefully fix his current issues. It was just his anniversary of his first surgery that started all these medical issues. It has been a long road for them, but I try to look on the bright side. He doesn’t have cancer. Medicine now helps way more than it hurts. God’s plan and His love never fails. Little comforts in this time of trial. I am hoping, praying and wishing them all the best. Please send your good thoughts and prayers their way too.
I am off to watch an episode of House Hunters International and then get to bed early. Have a great day everyone!!
Look like good food. Had great mother’s day. Everybody stopped at one time or another. Great day for me and then the Larsens bought us supper.
Will keep your dad in my prayers. Having therapy twice a week and making head way, Still walking with walker, but going better.
Love! Grandma Miller
