That phrase does not flow as well as April Showers Bring May Flowers but that is what happens when you switch hemispheres; you just got to adapt!
We had a productive last couple of weeks. I had an eye exam and got new glasses and sunglasses last week. We met with our financial counselor to go over her plan for us. I settled back into work as we start the hiring and training process. The cats assisted me in hanging all the paintings I had brought. Our apartment is a lot more homey now with those all the walls.
Last Saturday, I worked then we went to Junkyard Beats’ Box Show as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival. It was so entertaining and good!! Sunday was church, a coffee and juice in Balmain, then I started my WI trip post after video chatting with my parents. The local pub in Balmain had NFL flags including a Packers one. Had to get a picture!! We went to lunch at the North Annandale Hotel down the street from us which was excellent. I then met a few ladies from the SLS for roller skating on the roof at Broadway Mall. It was a much smaller rink than I expected, but the 80s theme was fun and they had a cool hangout area up there with lawn games. We only had one spill from our group, which was an accomplishment with all the kids buzzing around and falling in front of us. I had not roller skated for a long, long time. The girls said that there are not any skating rinks left in Sydney anymore. Afterward, a few of the girls went home, but we grabbed a few bottles of wine, and headed to Spice Alley for dinner and our drinks as it is BYO. Fiona, Nerina, and I had some delicious Asian food and great conversation. I had missed Nerina’s Birthday because of our flight delay, so there was plenty to catch up on.
Monday was a Public Holiday for Labour day so I had off. I finished my WI trip post and tried to catch up on paperwork from our time off. The weather has been nice and sunny, but breezy. We took a walk around the Harbour in the park. I found some cute lucky bamboo plants for the apartment and Caprica ate all the leaves off them. Apparently she doesn’t want us to be lucky.
The rest of the week was rainy, windy, and cool with the exception of Saturday during the day. Tuesday night Book club got together at the Stitch bar to discuss A Simple Favour, our book last month. We hope to get to the movie as a group, but it is only showing at limited theaters here. Friday night, Brandon and I took the train to Cronulla to watch Fi’s band, the Barry Quokkas and eat dinner. It was a smaller crowd due to the crappy weather, but we all got up and danced to the Aussie classic hits. We recognized a few more songs this time from the last time we saw them.
Saturday cleared up and was actually sunny. Breezy, but nice enough to get outside. Brandon and I went for a walk along the Harbour in the park, then to the Fish Market and over the ANZAC bridge. We played some Jackbox games when we got home, then I got ready to go out. I met up with a few ladies I met through the SLS. We made our own little Foodies group to try new places once a month. We went to Barangaroo and had a lovely evening with great food and even better company! The drizzle started up again when we were leaving the restaurant.
Today is Sunday and it is rainy again. We went to later church because of daylight savings and then headed to Broadway. We had lunch at Grill’d and ran errands. We did our obligatory stop into T2 and got a few new teas to try. We hope to have a relaxing rest of the day. Brandon is make poke bowls for supper and we will snuggle in and watch a movie. I am off tomorrow, so we have a meeting with our financial adviser, but not much else planned. Hopefully the weather will clear up off and on to make our trek to and from the bus less wet.
Have a great rest of your weekend everyone!!
Rain rain go away! There’s going to be lots of flowers the way we’re going.
I’ve got my fingers crossed the lucky bamboo recovers 😀
Thanks Juliana! I hope the plants make it back too! We had to put the watercress outside as she would not stop nibbling it and get sick right after. She is trouble that Caprica!!
Great pictures and writing Amy. Always enjoy it. Like the picture of the kitty saying his prayers! Was that after he got in trouble for eating your new plants? Funny!
