Hi All and happy weekend!!
It has, thankfully, cooled down this weekend and is overcast. A happy relief to the sunny and HOT heatwave we had been having. Nice weather to get out and exercise in. Which we have been doing a lot of. Between parkruns on Saturdays and walking the 7 km Bay Run during the week and Sundays, we and Nerina are whipping ourselves into shape. It has been fun to see improvement in ourselves and each other. More on that later.
Thanks everyone who has commented and followed our story on here. I appreciate you! As you may have noticed, these posts are coming more infrequently. It is a combination of finding the time and motivation to keep up on it. Also, we are settled and happy with life here, so no longer feel the need to document and share it. I think I will be making this website back into just telling about our trips. I just can’t maintain it as an updater for friends and family any more. You all will have to keep up with me on Facebook or message us to see what we are up to. This website is also supposed to be a way to show everyone how awesome Australia is and motivate everyone to visit. Well that clearly has not worked, as no one has come. This has really disappointed me. Any and all are welcome to come visit and stay with us!! We would love to have you!!
This is what we have been up to the past few weeks. I have been busy at work at my main job and also picked up a few shifts at my first emergency job. I started at my second emergency job as well last week with my induction and a shadow shift. All are going well. I am enjoying the challenges of each one.
Brandon and Nerina did the Greenway parkrun on the 5th and 12th. Some injuries and strains and also the heat has held them back in beating their PBs, but it will come. I was working both days and could not join them. A group of us did the Bay Run, then had dinner in Marrickville at a pub. That was a fun night. Chicken Satay tacos are an amazing reward to exercise. 🙂 I had lunch in the Rocks with some girls from the CBC group. We hadn’t gotten together in a while, so it was nice to catch up and meet some new members of the group.
The evening of the 12th, we took a ferry to Cockatoo Island for a picnic with a bunch of friends and live music on the lawn. It was a beautiful evening and good music. We then went to Barangaroo for drinks. Sunday, we had church, then went to Ikea for some odds and ends, then I did the Bay Run with Nerina and Fi.
This past Saturday, the 19th, Brandon, I and Delps, did the Centennial parkrun that our friend Sam was run directing. It was more rugged than Greenway is, more uneven dirt and grass verses paved. I was happy with my time since it was a new course and different conditions. The park itself is massive and beautiful. There are big trees and amazing ponds. It is really pretty, and only a 20 min drive away (without traffic). We then met more friends in a different part of Centennial Park to do TuffNutterz, an inflatable obstacle course. It was so fun and a bit grueling to get through. It also didn’t help we were all laughing so hard from watching each other jump and fall. It was an epic, epic time. We then headed home for a nap, then to get ready for dinner out. My main work, ANVC, put on a Chinese New Year dinner in Chinatown. It is always so fun to see each other out of work. Our jobs are so busy, we don’t really get to socialize. A few of us went to karaoke after which was also a blast. We chose mainly women singers, especially from the 90s.
That is what we have been up to. I am off to do stuff around the house and maybe have a nap. I am a bit sore and tired from everything we did yesterday. Next weekend is Australia Day and I have a few extra days off. It should be really fun!! Enjoy the pictures!! A big thank you to Fi for the awesome collage pictures!! Beautiful!!
Looks like fun! Have to run around the basement, to cold out there. 0 this morning. Love your writing and pictures. Hugs to you both! Grandma and Grandpa Miller
I enjoy reading your posts to see what you have been up to.
