This weekend we went out to dinner with friends Friday night for the first time in a long while, then on Sunday, went out hiking in the Blue Mountains. The hike we did was in Leura which was about an hour and a half drive from where we live in Sydney. We are allowed to gather outside in groups of 10 as long as we observe social distancing. (you can have 5 people over to your house) Australia is doing really well in our COVID cases. We successfully flattened the curve back in April and now are slowly easing restrictions and opening things back up. We were going to the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, but the track was closed due to a landslide, so we did a few different mini hikes around waterfalls first, before finding an alternate route to the Prince Henry one. I loved the hike! Great work out of stairs and paths in nature. Cool rocks and plants. We didn’t see any wildlife besides cockatoos; I think there were too many people being loud to see anything else.
I have only been posting trip recently, but since we won’t be going on many trips in the near future, I thought I would post it. It is officially winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, so a perfect time to get out and hike. We have been having cooler weather, but not too much rain to ruin many outside plans. They cancelled Vivid Sydney, a festival of lights and art around the city, which typically goes all of June due to COVID, so not much planned this winter. We have been getting out running a few mornings a week, but parkrun is still cancelled until further notice. Brandon and I even tried out our new neighborhood rollerblading. It was flat along the foreshore, so it went well. Brandon has been still working from home mainly, so that hasn’t changed, but I have been switching off between working from home and going in to the clinic. We moved to a new apartment in May and have been having fun getting out and exploring. The cats are doing well; settling in to the new place and enjoying the sun. Not much else is new. Happy June all and wishing you all well!
