Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Well the last month has been pretty interesting here in Sydney. It has been uncharacteristically cool and rainy for summer. Good for the drought, bad for planning outdoor things. We also had a break out of COVID when we thought it was pretty much done here in Australia. So, though new case numbers per day are below 15 for all of New South Wales, masks have been mandated and we are being extra cautious. Thankfully, my mom sent a bunch of fun masks for me that she made, so I can be fashionable and safe! I even have Christmas ones!

We started the month with a catch up with friends eating Asian in Spice Alley, followed by delicious dessert. The next day, the Netball team I work out with did their Christmas get together learning to play croquet, then having dinner at our favorite pub. Brandon was feeling sentimental around his Birthday, so was replaying Halo and made himself pumpkin pie for his Birthday cake. We went out to dinner with friends to an Italian restaurant to celebrate his Birthday. That week, I went out with some girlfriends to French food at La Coq; it was yum!

Brandon did parkrun, since it is allowed now for 500 people to meet outside at an event; it was the the first one on in Australia since March. I worked and then had our work Christmas party at ours. We were supposed to have a picnic, but it was too wet. Nerina came over and we made Christmas cookies and candy. We had our work Christmas Tea with a Kris Kringle gift exchange. I had a sore throat, so went and got COVID tested. It only took 1.5 hrs and I got my results the same day. My girlfriends and I went out for pasta in a cheese wheel to ring in the holiday celebrations. It was so delicious! Christmas Day and Boxing Day, we were at Fi’s holiday house in the Blue Mountains, Katura. We drank, ate, played games and hung out in the spa. It was an awesome way to celebrate Christmas, even with the rain and mist. I worked some of the Public Holidays at the emergency hospital and it was busy as usual.

Nerina came over for NYE and we watched the fireworks on TV. Sad we don’t have the awesome view we did at our old place, but it was still fun. This past weekend we were going to try out indoor rock climbing, but it was too crowded so we went for a walk through Sydney Park and then had food and drinks in Newtown. Nerina and I have been trying to get out walking a lot between rain showers. I was stuck in a sun shower the other day on my way to physio. The sky looks all clear, but trust me, it was pouring! A lovely client brought us these impressive chocolates and Caprica’s belly hair is growing back. Our friend Sam is back in town, so we caught up with him for dinner as well. Overall a good month with lots of fun had. Hope your 2021 is treating you just as well! Stay safe and stay dry!
