A year in review 2021-
This year has had its ups and downs for us. We started up with a lovely summer, full of boat days, lunches, parkrun, hikes, picnics and dinners with friends (Secret Foodies!). We had some time away in Mudgee (wine country) and “down the coast” in the Southern Highlands staying in Tiny Houses for my birthday (wombats!). Autumn brought some rainy days. I started swimming with Brandon at the pool and we became parkrun Pirates! We have been in Australia on our Permanent Resident Visa for four years now and applied for our Australian Citizenship. We hope become dual citizenship some time in the next 6-12 months.
Work has stayed busy for us both. I am still at All Natural Vet Care as Nurse Supervisor https://www.allnaturalvetcare.com/ and Brandon runs the tech side of Sprout Stack http://sproutstack.co/.
In June, we lost Caprica. She got sick quite fast but she was old and had quite a few health problems so it was her time. Fiyero is enjoying being the only pet. All the lap options! Shortly after this, The Delta COVID strain came to Sydney and everything locked down. The following four months were very minimal. Brandon worked from home and I drove to work where we did contactless service; only pets coming into the building. We spent the rest of winter and part of spring at home. Travel is just now opening between states and internationally. We celebrated friends’ Birthdays digitally and got take away food to support our local cafes and restaurants. Until the country was 70% double vaccinated, we stayed locked down. I knitted a lot of scarves and took lots of pictures of Fiyero being cute.
Spring and the start of summer has been rainy, but we are happy to be back out and about. We are hiking, doing lunches, dinners, trips to wineries and seeing friends. We did our third annual Friendsgiving. parkrun will be restarting next week. Hopefully we will be able to stick to our plan of coming back to the US in June- Hawaii for our 10 year Anniversary, Wisconsin for a visit and Colorado for a family wedding. We are looking forward to a quieter Christmas and New Years this year with all our Public Holidays off and not many plans.
