Hello all,

Sorry this post is late, have been busy with our flat mates. 🙂  Fall is here and the leaves are changing and falling.  Not many trees have turned, but a few throughout the city.

This past weekend was fun.  I finished Brandon’s scarf.  I worked Saturday, then met Brandon in the city to walk around Circular Quay, the Royal Botanical Gardens, and we finally made it to Mrs.  Macquarie’s Chair.  It is a great look out and view of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge from the south western bank of the harbor.  We had a little picnic of cookie and chocolate milk as the sun set and the lights came up in the city.  There was even a seal resting by the Opera House, but he didn’t look so good.

Sunday we went to church and then Heidi joined us for a walk around Cremorne Point to enjoy the sun. We then went on another walk to Mosman to Bed, Bath, & Table for beach towels that were on sale.  So now we are prepped for people to come see us; we have enough towels for the beach!  We had dinner as a family (our flatmates and us) then had a house meeting about finances since we are sticking around and want to pay our fair share.  Our living situation has been so lovely and we are so happy to have found such a great location with such amazing people.  🙂

Last night Jax picked up Brandon near his work to go laptop shopping and Heidi picked me up from work and we all went out for Italian in Balmain, closer to my work.  It was a fun time and they even stopped to pick up wine. Most restaurants let you BYO for a small fee; still way cheaper than even a glass of wine somewhere.

This weekend will be busy, with a lot of fun things planned and they weather is suppose to hold out.  Vivid Sydney starts this weekend in which a lot of the buildings have cool light displays.  There are also events and concerts throughout the city.  Taste of Manly is happening this weekend with food and wine in the corso.  Heidi and Brandon are going to work on her promotional video for her business this weekend. Busy and fun!! Tomorrow I may be getting filmed for a news report at my clinic.  Dr. Matthew is getting interviewed about pet diets and I am going to stand in as a client.  Pretty exciting!

Today was cooler, like 60s, seemed chilly after being back in the 70s over the weekend and early this week.  I am still not complaining, nicer than most weather back home.  I started knitting Brandon’s hat now.  We had a flatmate movie night Monday (John Wick with Keanu Reeves) and I got a bit of it done.  The cats were being so cute and photogenic so enjoy all the pictures of them scattered throughout our adventuring ones.  Skinks and selfies from Heidi and my Thai massage are also included.  🙂  Talk to you all again soon!

  1. Hi Amy & Brandon,
Am finally getting up to date with your webpage. Hooray for the completed scarf and it looks nice and warm! Pics of the kitties are cute and they look like they enjoy the household there. It sounds like you are going to stay put with your present living arrangement and both of your flatmates have been a great help to you in learning the ways of Sydney.
Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair is an interesting spot–nice memorial to her and great view. We are hoping to drive “Up North” sometime this summer to see what Lori & Jeff have planned with their retirement home. Will probably stop in the Post Lake area to visit and perhaps have lunch with friends from there and then make our way to Eagle River for an overnighter. At least, that is what we did last summer and it seemed to work out well.
We were in the City of Kenosha this past week to attend the funeral of a neighbor/friend that owned a condo in our same unit. They’ve had a condo here for several years so knew them quite well. Met with another couple in Grafton and they drove in the busy traffic through Milwaukee and Kenosha and we were glad they were willing to do so. On our return trip after picking up our car at Grafton, we ran into hard rain in the area south of Fond du Lac on Hwy. 41 which wasn’t so nice, but got home safely early evening.
Take care and say “Hi” to Jax and Heidi (?) for us.

Love, Grandma & Grandpa Kohl xoxoxoxo
