Hi all!  Hope this week is treating you well and the snow doesn’t have my Wisconsinite friends and family down.  Yay the Superbowl and the winter Olympics to keep you entertained as winter drags on.  Not rubbing it in, but we had a gorgeous, sunny day here today in Sydney.  This week has been cooler with a bit of rain though.  It did not rain on training night Tuesday, so that was good.

Monday, after I posted, Brandon and I went for a walk across the Anzac bridge.  It took us through the marina and boat storage area by my walk to work.  We wandered around the shore walk through Glebe and then home.  It was a nice walk, and a lovely day out.  I started raw food for the cats this past week.  Caprica was more excited about the chicken wings than Fiyero, but both had a bit of difficulty with them.  I started them on chicken wings, Feline Natural food, Green Lipped Sea Mussel, and probiotics.  Caprica is very sensitive and hesitant, but Fiyero has eaten it all down besides the chicken.  We shall see how they take it all as I try to switch them off kibble.

Wednesday I went to the Bayview Hotel for dinner, drinks, and a comedy night with another girl from one of my social groups.  It was a fun night until the fire alarm started going off in the second comedian’s act.  We were told it was a false alarm and he tried to go on for like 10 more mins, but with the alarm going it was a bit distracting.  We were then told, yes we needed to evacuate, though no one else in the bar was.  The comedian came with us and brought his beer.  We thought he would go back on, but when they let us back in, most everyone had left.  An interesting and entertaining night.  There was suppose to be a super blue moon also that night, but it was too cloudy to see it.

Thursday night, Brandon had a meet up and the cats and I enjoyed popcorn for supper while watching a show on the Great Barrier Reef.  I thought we should be as educated as possible before we go next month. 🙂 Saturday I worked and then came home for some chill time.  We watched the movie Passengers with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence and both really liked it.  We have three months free of Stan, an app like Netflix with movies and TV and stuff.  I love it.  It has so many great shows and recent movies.  I will be sad when it is over.  At least we still have some TV channels.  And all of the internet to entertain ourselves with, but still, sometimes it is nice to open an app and choose from a list.

Sunday, we went to the church in Rozelle again and then had lunch in Balmain.  I had an afternoon date with some women from the social group for bubbles and oysters in Redfern.  A restaurant/bar was doing $1 oysters.  Our group met through other events and discovered we all were interested in cheap oyster outings, so today was the first one.  At two dozen each, we ended up eating the place out of oysters.  They were fresh and delicious.  There was a debate between having sparkling or tequila with oysters as the preferred drink.  I tried one of each, and I am leaning toward tequila and oysters being the winner. Very good.  When I got back, Brandon and I tool a twilight walk around the Tramsheds and watched the bats.  Now I am posting this quickly and going to sleep.

This week marks my parents’ wedding anniversary and also our anniversary for moving to Australia.  Time has gone really fast.  I also feel we have learned and grown so much since we have arrived here.  A big thank you to all who helped us with our move over here and settling in!  Especially all our new friends here in Australia!  A special shout out to Heidi and Jax for showing us the ropes!!  We would have been so lost and clueless without you.  Thanks so much!!  We are still working on a house warming party at our new place, or at least having people over for dinner so keep an eye out on Facebook for an event.  Talk to you all next week!

  1. We just got in from shoveling and blowing out our driveway and the neighbors. They said 5.8 inches, with some drifts next door over 10 inches. Send warm weather and sun.

  2. Hi Amy & Brandon,
Feb. 9th – Driving to Eagle River early tomorrow morning and will take some things that Lori wants us to bring, so will stop at their house and load those before we continue on our way. Plan to stop for breakfast at the restaurant and convenience store at the corner of Hwys. 45 and 29. Then, onto Eagle River to see what progress they’ve made on their lake home. Do plan to drive back same day, so we won’t hang around too long, probably go to lunch with them and then be on our way home. They are busy painting at the present time.
We have about 6″ of snow at the present time–some good ground cover. One thing that is a positive about colder temperatures in winter is that we get a lot of sunshine. Looking forward to spring, however, and we should be seeing a bit of that starting March 1.
